These works, scheduled from November 2026 to December 2027, involve the creation and rehabilitation of over 4 km of wastewater networks. They will span several districts, from the seafront to Flots bleus, including the Lac, Aice Errota, Erromardie-Etchebiague, and Chibau areas. Concurrently, a separation of wastewater and rainwater networks is underway in the Lac district.
Phase 1 will commence on November 2, 2026, on Adolphe Thiers boulevard, around the Flots Bleus pumping station. It includes laying new pipes, expanding the pumping station, and renewing equipment. During this phase, traffic and parking will be prohibited between Pellot avenue and the pumping station, but pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained with diversions.
The construction site will then extend to other areas, notably Pellot avenue from November 23. Land clearing is also planned in November between Mgr Boyer Mas street and Ichaca. Access to shops will remain open, and work will be suspended during the Christmas holidays.
In the Lac district, separating rainwater and wastewater networks aims to prevent saturation and discharges into the sea, thereby improving bathing water quality. These works, taking place from November 2, 2026, to April 30, 2027, will involve closing the lower part of Pellot avenue from November 23 to December 18.
The total investment for this project is 12.6 million euros excluding taxes, funded by the Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque with support from the Adour-Garonne Water Agency. Information is available on-site from project managers and the Agglomeration Community's teams.
