Following recent summer climatic conditions, the Vouillé state forest is undergoing an operation to remove dying trees. The ONF has commenced these works, which will be carried out in three distinct phases to minimize impact on users.

The Vouillé state forest, affected by drought and heatwaves during the summer, is experiencing the death or decline of numerous trees. To secure rural paths, roads (open and closed to traffic), and public reception areas, the National Forestry Office (ONF) has initiated an operation to remove diseased trees and valorize old timber.
These operations, organized into three distinct phases, aim to prevent the forest from becoming inaccessible over a large area for an extended period. Felling signs are already in place, but the actual start of work by loggers and haulers will be indicated by large-format signage, "road closed" signs, and barrier tape at strategic points.
Phase 1, concerning plots 71 and 72 in the commune of Quincay, concludes today, November 4th. The teams are moving to begin securing dying and dangerous trees in Zone 2 (plots 56, 57, 58, 59). This zone will be closed from November 6th until further notice from the ONF.
Furthermore, logging operations have also begun on plot 54 (commune of Vouillé), located behind the hunting cabin. This timber was purchased standing by a private operator. Hikers are advised to avoid the trail that crosses plot 54 in its middle.
