Faced with the need to finance major projects without exceeding the municipality's financial capacity, the municipality of Aytré is proposing a process of transparency and education around the preparation of the 2027 budget. A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 6 PM in the Gaston-Balande hall (Hôtel de Ville).
"A budget is an accounting document, but it is also a strong act: it embodies a vision for the municipality and its inhabitants," recalls Hélène Rata, mayor of Aytré. The municipal budget's development, a long-term effort, includes several key stages: preparing the needs of municipal services and centralizing grant requests starting in the fall, the Budgetary Orientation Debate (DOB) at the end of 2026, and finally the final vote in the Municipal Council in February 2027.
To shed light on these complex choices, the town is offering a participatory workshop where citizens will be invited to try building a balanced budget themselves. The goal is to foster understanding of the link between citizen contributions and public action, and to restore meaning to democratic life. The municipality emphasizes that every euro of tax paid translates into concrete action for the town.
The meeting will address possible levers for balancing accounts while continuing to invest for the future, including increasing revenue and controlling expenses. The proposed method is to jointly define priorities for 2027.
A simple glossary is provided to understand public management: the PLF (Finance Bill) which sets the state's budget framework, the DOB (Budgetary Orientation Debate) to discuss financial priorities in the Municipal Council, and the CFU (Single Financial Account) which details the previous year's financial performance.
