Facing an increased risk of avian flu from negligible to moderate, Charente-Maritime is reinforcing its prevention measures. These new provisions aim to better protect livestock, particularly in areas with particular risks.

In municipalities designated as special risk zones (ZRP) in Charente-Maritime, specific conditions now apply to the movement of game birds. Furthermore, mandatory confinement for poultry, whether backyard or commercial farm birds, is imposed, with possible derogations under certain conditions.
Gatherings of poultry and captive birds are also prohibited, except with specific authorization. These measures are part of the decree of September 25, 2023, aimed at limiting the spread of the virus.
Across the entire department, general measures are being implemented, including covering vehicles transporting waterfowl, increased daily surveillance on commercial farms, and restrictions on the use of decoys for hunting.
Professionals and individuals are urged to strictly adhere to the general biosecurity measures available online. For any questions regarding the use of decoys, it is advisable to contact the representatives of the hunters' federation.
