Wastewater network inspections using smoke bombs will be conducted in three municipalities of the La Rochelle Agglomeration Community. The operations will take place in Esnandes and Marsilly between September 28 and October 2, and in Châtelaillon-Plage between October 12 and 16. These tests, conducted between 8 AM and 5:30 PM, use smoke that is harmless to health, does not stain or damage homes, and dissipates quickly. Temporary smoke appearing near homes is normal and part of the control process. The work will be carried out by the NCA study office, with an agent from the La Rochelle Agglomeration Community present, and emergency services and police will be informed.
Furthermore, a television inspection of the rainwater network is planned on rue Saint-Jean du Pérot in La Rochelle. This operation will take place over several nights, from September 21 to 23 and from September 28 to 30, 2026, to minimize noise pollution. A camera truck will inspect the main network pipe.
Another smoke bomb inspection of the wastewater network is also scheduled on rue de Brest in La Rochelle, on the afternoon of September 16, 2026. The smoke used is harmless and dissipates quickly.
The water meter reading campaign for the second half of 2026 is underway in several municipalities, including Bourgneuf, Dompierre-sur-Mer, Lagord, La Rochelle, Marsilly, Montroy, Saint-Rogatien, Vérines, and Yves, with dates ranging from mid-September to mid-October. Residents are reminded to facilitate access to meters and to submit their readings if necessary.
The repair work on the drinking water and sanitation networks in the Petit Versailles district of Aytré, initially scheduled to end on July 31, is now estimated to be completed by September 25, 2026.
Due to exceptional drought conditions in Charente-Maritime, the department has been placed under "Reinforced Alert" for drinking water withdrawals since July 18, 2026. Restrictions apply to all users regarding watering, vehicle washing, exterior cleaning, and pool filling.
A water meter reading campaign is also planned for residents of La Jarrie, La Rochelle, L’Houmeau, Périgny, Saint-Christophe, and Saint-Médard-d’Aunis, between August and September 2026.
The La Rochelle Agglomeration Community is warning about the presence of fake pre-collection agents. Community agents wear orange high-visibility clothing with the agglomeration's logo and operate vehicles also bearing the logo. They will never ask for bank details or money. In case of doubt, contact the National or Municipal Police.
The renewal of the sanitation network on rue de la Muse in La Rochelle will begin on July 15, 2026, for a duration of one month.
Weekly waste collection is extended until the end of September 2026 throughout the Agglomeration's territory to cope with increased waste volumes during the summer period.
