On Saturday, October 10th at 6:00 PM, the Salle Pierre Bergé (Eldorado) in Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron will present "The Very Mean King and the Plastic Ivory Tower". The show follows Elliot, a shy boy, who is led by a mysterious pianist into a futuristic city where music is forbidden by a tyrannical king. With the help of rebellious children living in the sewers, they launch a musical rebellion using songs and electronic music to restore creativity and freedom in a society controlled by technology and overconsumption.
The play questions whether the protagonists can destroy the plastic ivory tower from which the king spies on and controls his citizens. It is an illustrated musical performance designed for families, addressing contemporary themes such as freedom, imagination, and mutual aid.
Prior to the show, a "Write Your Song!" workshop will be held on the same Saturday, October 10th, at 10:00 AM at the media library. Led by singer-songwriter Tiou, the workshop invites children to collectively write songs on current themes. Attendance at the show is required to participate in the workshop.
