As part of the CAP Agri 4B partnership, the Chamber of Agriculture and the 4B Sud Charente Community of Communes organized a meeting in Salles-de-Barbezieux. The event brought together nearly 100 farmers and sector professionals for an exchange on the profession's difficulties and available support schemes. The meeting focused on listening and dialogue, initiated by Isabelle Lagarde, President of the 4B Community of Communes, and Laëtitia Plumat, President of the Charente Chamber of Agriculture, in the presence of Nathalie Clarenc, Sub-Prefect of the Cognac district.
The primary objective was to raise awareness of available aid and support systems, while also giving farmers a platform to voice their concerns. Speakers emphasized the importance of seeking help early and not facing difficulties alone. The Charente Chamber of Agriculture highlighted the Réagir cell, which assists farmers facing economic, social, technical, or personal challenges. The Sub-Prefecture and the Banque de France presented available support solutions, including the Charente's one-stop shop. Solidarité Paysans Poitou-Charentes and the MSA also reaffirmed their on-the-ground presence and support.
The evening also served to introduce the departmental rollout of the emergency plan Climat, Adaptation, Sécheresse, Incendie (CASI) and its support measures for affected farms. Beyond presenting support systems, the meeting facilitated direct exchange with farmers, relaying their concerns in a challenging agricultural context. The turnout underscored the importance of maintaining local dialogue spaces.
The 4B Sud Charente Community of Communes intends to continue this dynamic to facilitate information and support for agricultural professionals in the area. The Charente Chamber of Agriculture also announced Agri Parcours 2026, scheduled for November 18, 19, and 20, offering farmers a platform to discuss various issues such as diversification, farm succession, and risk prevention.
