For the first time, an exhibition dedicated to comic books is being presented at the Brive media library. This year, comics head West, showcasing the prestigious new collection from Éditions du Lombard, entirely focused on comic adaptations of novels published by Gallmeister, an independent publisher dedicated to American and foreign literature. Titles featured include Betty, Le gang de la clef à molette, and Lonesome Dove.
On Saturday, November 7th at 10:30 AM, a panel discussion will inaugurate the exhibition in the media library's Grand Hall. It will bring together Richard Guérineau, a prominent Franco-Belgian comic author, and Mathias Vincent, deputy editorial director at Le Lombard. An opening reception will follow at 12 PM.
The exhibition will highlight the comic adaptation of Lonesome Dove, the famous Western novel by American writer Larry McMurtry, a Pulitzer Prize winner in 1986. This saga explores the foundational myths of America through the desperate quest of two men in a changing world.
Focused on American literature, the exhibition will be structured around four themes: genre literature, nature writing (where vast landscapes play a central role), the strength of characters, and the necessity of fiction.
Four authors will also be present for signing sessions at the Espace des 3 Provinces: in addition to Richard Guérineau, the public can meet Amélie Causse, Jean-Luc Cornette, and Jean-Baptiste Hostache.
