These new tools, intended for stakeholders in the environmental education and sustainable development (EEDD) network coordinated by the Park, aim to increase understanding of the geological richness of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the forest issues in the Périgord vert.
The educational kit dedicated to geology, supported by the Réserves Naturelles de France network, allows for the exploration of the region's diverse rocks, fossils, and minerals. It highlights the two major geological formations present in the Park's territory: the sedimentary basin in the southwest and the granite bedrock in the Limousin part. It contains documents and fun tools to acquire scientific knowledge and connect it to local geological specificities, particularly those of the Rochechouart astrobleme and the Atlantic heathland network nature reserves.
The 'Forest Cabinet' educational kit is the result of work by students from ENSAD (design for rural worlds) who studied forest issues in the Périgord vert. This tool, comprising a poster, card games, and identity cards, visualizes the interactions and economic, social, cultural, and environmental stakes related to forests, offering a platform for debate on sustainable management.
These two new resources complement the existing kits on amphibians and wild pollinators. The Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park thus reinforces its role as a network coordinator and a resource center for territorial education structures. Educators interested in the EEDD network are invited to contact the Park at info@pnrpl.com.
