Effective immediately, the Prefect of Gironde has placed the department on orange alert for forest fires. This measure aims to limit the risk of fire outbreaks in the region.
Throughout the department, thermal brush clearing, burning of green waste in the open air, the use of flying lanterns, and private fireworks are now prohibited.
In forest areas and within a 200-meter radius, it is forbidden to make or transport fire or tobacco. Controlled burning, carbonization projects, bivouacking, and isolated camping on private land are also prohibited. Furthermore, the use of thermal or electric motors and any ignition sources is forbidden between 2 PM and 10 PM, except for property owners, residents, farmers, beekeepers, organized hunting parties, and authorized services.
Festive, sporting, and cultural events are prohibited between 2 PM and 10 PM in exposed areas. Free human presence is also restricted in these spaces, with exceptions for developed leisure sites, beach areas, marked cycling paths, and authorized individuals.
Agricultural activities benefit from an exemption: access to plots remains authorized without time restrictions for irrigation, market gardening, and viticulture, provided a water reserve and an alert system are in place.
The Communauté de communes du Sud Gironde urges everyone to respect these measures to protect local forests.
