The department of Gironde has been placed on orange alert for forest fire risk starting Thursday, September 24, 2026. This high level (3/5) triggers the re-enactment of restriction measures in exposed areas of predominantly forested municipalities.
Free human presence is prohibited from 2 PM to 10 PM in these zones. Festive, sporting, and cultural events are also banned during this period. Outside these hours, they may be held under conditions of reinforced surveillance and immediate availability of intervention resources.
The use of thermal or electric engines and ignition sources is forbidden between 2 PM and 10 PM, except for activities expressly provided for by regulations. Forestry operations requiring engine use must cease by 1:30 PM.
Major cycling routes, including the Vélodyssée and the Scandibérique, remain accessible and benefit from an exemption from human presence restrictions.
It is notably forbidden to use open fires, smoke, discard incandescent debris, incinerate dry vegetation, conduct controlled burns, carry out carbonization projects, or practice bivouacking and isolated camping on private land.
In areas already affected by fires, human presence remains prohibited, except for individuals with a legitimate interest or specific mission, such as owners, forest managers, agricultural operators, or public services.
The municipality urges everyone to exercise the utmost vigilance and strictly adhere to these instructions to prevent any new fire outbreaks and protect the forest, environment, and territory.
