For its first edition, the association "Main dans la main en rose" illuminated Laruscade in the colors of Pink October on Saturday, October 11. A solidarity Gourmet Market brought together approximately 400 participants in a joint effort to support the fight against breast cancer.
The day began in the late afternoon with a one-hour solidarity walk around the commune. Starting at 5 PM, about sixty walkers, young and old, some dressed in pink, traversed the local paths with a warm and committed atmosphere, setting off from the community hall.
Upon their return, the Gourmet Market took center stage. All profits from the evening will be donated to the League Against Cancer, as part of the national Pink October campaign for breast cancer prevention and research.
The mayor, Marjorie Portes, surrounded by the municipal team, praised this surge of solidarity: "It is a pride to see Laruscade mobilize like this. Pink October is a message of hope, solidarity, and prevention. Thank you to our volunteers, our producers, and all the participants."
About ten stalls offered a variety of flavors: artisanal charcuterie, bread and pastries, grilled duck magrets, fresh oysters, cheese platters, exotic dishes, and a special mention for paella. Wines from Camille Gaucheraud of the Latouche family and a refreshment stand run by volunteers accompanied these tastings.
Children were not forgotten, enjoying an inflatable slide and a traditional duck pond game, contributing to a joyful and intergenerational atmosphere.
The musical stage was the main attraction, featuring young local talents, including a singer who participated in The Voice Kids, delivering an emotional concert. A DJ then kept the energy high throughout the evening.
The evening concluded with a fireworks display offered by the municipality, launched from the stadium and the pond, lighting up the sky with vibrant colors.
The town hall expressed its gratitude to the organizing association, the elected officials, volunteers, municipal agents, producers, artisans, artists, the DJ, the association Cavignac Club Nord Gironde represented by Mr. Léopold Mandin, and all the residents of Laruscade for their support.
Pink October is the national campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer screening, reminding us that early detection allows for the cure of 9 out of 10 cancers.
