A laureate of the Création libre 2026 prize, Flore Chemin is undertaking a residency at Chalet Mauriac during October and November 2026. She is continuing the creation of Galerie souterraine, a project situated at the crossroads of painting, drawing, and comics. Designed as a hybrid object, this book invites the reader to wander through a labyrinth of images and narratives.
Based in Uzerche in Corrèze, Flore Chemin's artistic practice spans painting, drawing, comics, and installation. She employs a method she calls "FAST ART", prioritizing creative action over reflection, where urgency drives creation. Publishing then serves as a respite, allowing meaning to emerge from the assembly of pages.
Flore Chemin is also part of the La Calade collective, located at the Hôtel du Sénéchal in Uzerche. This venue hosts artist and artisan workshops and organizes various cultural events.
The Galerie souterraine project (provisional title) aims to weave connections between painting, drawing, and comics, leveraging the unique qualities of each medium to create a mutable and intriguing object. The book will be presented as a catalogue of paintings, interspersed with narratives inspired by this peculiar collection of artworks.
The experience offered is one of wandering through a phantom gallery, where paintings act as mirrors and narratives as bridges. Readers are invited to lose themselves in this maze where repetition in altered forms seems to be the only path to an exit.
