Presided over by several officials, including Mr. Maurice BARATE, prefect of Haute-Vienne, and Mr. Patrick LABRUNE, mayor of Pierre-Buffière, this new modern facility aims to improve the working conditions of firefighters and strengthen the protection of local residents.
Located on route de Chabanas, in the business zone of Pierre-Buffière, the center benefits from a strategic location near the A20 highway. This position facilitates operational response organization and ensures better coverage for surrounding communities, providing firefighters with a suitable environment to respond to rescue calls.
The building, designed by the agency EPURE, integrates various functional spaces: a vehicle and equipment bay, administrative and training areas, a dedicated space for young firefighters, living and rest quarters, operational preparation areas, technical and storage rooms, and outdoor facilities for vehicle maneuvering. Its red facade affirms the building's 'firefighter' identity.
Special attention has been given to water management with the installation of a rainwater harvesting system, co-financed by the municipality, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, and the SDIS 87, highlighting the project's environmental dimension.
The total investment amounts to 1,750,000 euros excluding taxes. The project was supported by the municipality of Pierre-Buffière, with financial contributions from the State, the Departmental Council of Haute-Vienne, the SDIS 87, and the concerned municipalities, reflecting a shared ambition for a robust territorial rescue network.
The new center includes a dedicated space for young firefighters, emphasizing its role as a place for learning and transmitting values. This welcoming environment also supports the promotion of volunteerism and the center's attractiveness.
Given the diversity of missions – personal assistance, traffic accidents, fires, climate events – this new facility addresses the need for constant preparation and adapted equipment, recognizing the daily commitment of firefighters.
