This study, part of the community's Territorial Climate Air Energy Plan (PCAET), aims to refine the 2019 diagnosis by identifying sources of atmospheric emissions such as industry and transport, and their impacts on health and the environment.
Two one-month measurement campaigns were carried out: a summer campaign from April 22 to May 20, 2025, and a winter campaign from November 10 to December 9, 2025. Measurements were taken at five sites, including four in Parentis-en-Born and one control site in Sanguinet for comparison.
The equipment included a mobile laboratory, gauges, and passive tubes. Results show that air quality in Parentis-en-Born is, for most pollutants, comparable to that of regional stations and Sanguinet. PM2.5 and PM10 particles occasionally exceeded WHO recommendations in winter, potentially due to desert dust, residential wood heating, and industrial emissions, while respecting regulatory thresholds.
Measured concentrations of odorous compounds are low and meet reference thresholds where they exist. However, the study cannot characterize occasional odor episodes that may cause nuisance to residents.
A public meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 30th at 6 PM at the administrative center to present the findings and address residents' questions. Questions can be submitted via a dedicated form until November 26th at 6 PM. The full report is available on the Atmo Nouvelle-Aquitaine website.
