The city of Tarnos is launching an innovative initiative called "Sport Santé" this November, aiming to guide residents in resuming adapted physical activity gently and without pressure.

Recognizing the essential role of physical activity in maintaining health, the municipality of Tarnos is rolling out the "Sport Santé" program starting in November. The goal is to assist individuals who wish to begin or restart physical activity gently, at their own pace and according to their capabilities.
This new municipal service, managed by the Sports Animation Department, is open to anyone who has paused their physical activity, for personal or health reasons. The focus is on personalized support, regaining body confidence, and the pleasure of moving, rather than competition or performance.
The benefits of regular physical activity are significant: it helps protect the heart, prevent chronic diseases, and improve overall physical and mental well-being, while also reducing stress and anxiety. The program is accessible to all ages and fitness levels and can be recommended by a doctor as part of a therapeutic plan.
The process begins with an individual assessment to evaluate each person's abilities and propose a tailored physical activity program. These activities can be led by local associations certified in "sport-santé" or by the municipal service at the "Sport Santé" Hub, offered either individually or collectively, one or more times per week.
The primary objective is to empower participants to become autonomous in their physical activity and to integrate more movement into their daily lives. The support can last up to a year, with an interim review at six months to track progress and plan for the future.
