The City of Orthez is launching a network of neighborhood representatives to enhance proximity dialogue and boost local life, with public meetings on November 21, 2026, and applications open until December 20th.

To strengthen proximity dialogue and boost local life, the City of Orthez is establishing a network of neighborhood representatives. The goal is to enable volunteer residents to act as a liaison between their area and the town hall. Representatives will listen to residents, relay their ideas, proposals, or reports, and inform the neighborhood about upcoming municipal projects and works.
Neighborhood representatives will also organize sector visits with elected officials and contribute to local conviviality, including welcoming new neighbors and supporting isolated individuals. The municipal territory is divided into 6 sectors: Centre, Castétarbe, Chaussée de Dax, Départ, Soarns, and Sainte-Suzanne. Each sector can have up to 3 representatives appointed for 2 years.
The initiative and its boundaries will be presented during public meetings organized on the weekend of November 21, 2026, at the town hall and the house of associations. Residents are invited to attend these exchange sessions.
Any adult resident of their neighborhood, registered on the electoral list (excluding municipal elected officials and election candidates), can apply. The application, consisting of a form, a cover letter, and an ID, must be submitted at the town hall reception by December 20, 2026. Selected representatives will be officially appointed in early January 2027.
