From October 9 to November 9, 2026, the Department of Charente-Maritime invites residents to participate in a public consultation on the future of the Oléron bridge and associated developments.

This consultation aims to gather opinions on renovation work estimated at 33.9 million euros HT, bringing guardrails up to standard, cycling infrastructure, preservation of natural spaces, alternative mobility, and proposed financing methods.
Three scenarios are proposed for bringing the bridge up to standard after nearly 60 years of service. The consultation also addresses the redevelopment of the bridge's surroundings and the development of sustainable mobility solutions.
Financing is a key topic, with several hypotheses presented, potentially involving public authorities, taxpayers, or users. A specific questionnaire addresses the possible implementation of a toll on the Oléron bridge.
Citizens can get informed and contribute until November 9, 2026. Information, the consultation file, and a register are available online at avenir-pont-oleron.fr, via an online questionnaire, at several town halls (notably in Marennes), and at the Maison du Département of Charente-Maritime in La Rochelle. Questions can also be sent by email to Mme Denis-Dintilhac.
