The Île d'Oléron hosted a day dedicated to sports inclusion, inspired by the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, bringing together 116 participants.

On October 1, 2026, the Île d'Oléron buzzed with the spirit of inclusive sport. A memorable day gathered 116 participants, young and adult, able-bodied or with motor or mental disabilities, demonstrating sport's power as a catalyst for connection and integration. Various adapted disciplines, including archery, biathlon, cycling, judo, boccia, blowpipe, basketball, and wheelchair rugby, allowed everyone to discover and engage in physical activity.
The organization of this event was made possible by the crucial commitment of several local associations: Tir à l’arc – Oléronais, ATAM Sport and Thierry Oursseau for biathlon, Vélo pour Tous, Judo Club Oléronais, the Comité Handisport (boccia and blowpipe), Basket Oléronais, and the Niort rugby club wheelchair rugby section. Support structures like Atalante, the Maison de l’Enfance (MDE), the Foyer Départemental de Lannelongue (FDL), Les Farfadets, Odyssée, the Centre de Rééducation Oléronais (CRO), and Handi’Loisirs also played a vital role.
This collective initiative for accessible sport benefited from the support of the Communauté de communes de l’île d’Oléron, a financial partner and driving force behind this inclusive approach. The Syndicat Intercommunal de Fonctionnement et d’Investissement du Collège et des Equipements Sportifs (SIFICES) provided the Oumière sports complex.
Beyond the numbers, it was the spirit of sharing and common effort that marked this day. The legacy of the Games can thus sustainably transform local sports practices, making sport a right for all. The Communauté de Communes extended its thanks to all participants, supervisors, associations, and partners for this collective success.
