The town of Châteaubernard has announced the upcoming creation of the Youth Municipal Council (CMJ), a new body designed to give young residents a voice and introduce them to local democracy.

The Municipal Council of Châteaubernard will decide this Thursday on the establishment of the Youth Municipal Council (CMJ). This new body aims to provide a platform for the town's youth to express their ideas, propose projects, and contribute to improving daily life. The Childhood and Youth Commission, in collaboration with elected officials, wishes to promote civic engagement and the learning of democracy from a young age.
Young councillors will be able to get involved in various themes such as the environment, solidarity, culture, sports, leisure, living environment, and prevention. Supported by elected officials and municipal services, their ideas will be transformed into concrete and achievable projects.
All students in CM1 and CM2 from Châteaubernard's schools are eligible. Starting November 6, elected officials will visit classrooms to present the CMJ to students and their families and launch candidacies.
The schedule includes a period for meetings and launching candidacies from November 6 to 13, followed by the presentation of candidates and the election campaign from November 23 to 27. Elections will take place on Monday, November 30, and the official installation of the CMJ is scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at 10 am.

"Children have ideas, energy, and a fresh perspective on their town. With the Youth Municipal Council, we are giving them the means to express and realize them. It's a first experience of commitment in service to others, and a great lesson in democracy."

Pierre Nau · Mayor
The Municipality wishes to thank the teachers of the concerned classes for their commitment, which fully contributes to the success of this project. It encourages all CM1 and CM2 students to make their voices heard and become active participants in their town.
