The municipality of Gond-Pontouvre is establishing a partnership with the 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation to combat the proliferation of stray cats through sterilization and identification.

The municipality of Gond-Pontouvre is committed to controlling the stray cat population by collaborating with the 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation. The aim is to sterilize and identify these animals, granting them the status of « chat libre » (free cat). This initiative seeks to limit their reproduction, reduce noise and odor nuisances, and sustainably stabilize the feline population in the area.
Two capture campaigns are planned over the next two years. The municipality will inform local residents before each capture operation.
The association Chapitres will be responsible for the capture operations. The cats will then be taken to the municipality's partner veterinarian for sterilization and identification. After these procedures, the association will collect the cats from the veterinarian to release them back to their original capture location.
The costs for sterilization and identification of the cats will be fully covered by the 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation, as part of its agreement with the municipality of Gond-Pontouvre.
