Major rehabilitation works on the Mireport Bridge in Lormont, starting in September 2026, will continue until the end of the first quarter of 2027, impacting traffic on the Bordeaux ring road.

The State, through the DIRA (Direction interdépartementale des routes Atlantique), is launching a major works program on the Mireport Bridge, an structure built in 1961 connecting the town center of Lormont to the Carriet district. Regular inspections have revealed defects requiring intervention, such as aging support bearings, degraded concrete, contact between the deck and the 'garde-grève' walls, and repeated impacts from oversized vehicles.
These rehabilitation works include the demolition and reconstruction of the 'garde-grève' walls, treatment of degraded concrete, replacement of the 40 support bearings, raising of the deck, and repair of the roadways, joints, and sidewalks. Certain phases will lead to significant traffic restrictions.
The phase for the demolition and reconstruction of the 'garde-grève' walls will require the full closure of the bridge to motorized vehicles from Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6:00 AM to Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 6:00 AM. Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained. This period was specifically chosen during school holidays to minimize disruption.
A "key operation" for jacking up the deck and replacing the support bearings is scheduled under a complete closure of the Bordeaux ring road (between junctions n°2 and n°4, including the Pont d'Aquitaine) from Saturday, November 21, 2026, at 10:00 PM to Monday, November 23, 2026, at 4:00 AM. This will involve lifting the deck using 70 jacks and replacing the supports.
Users are advised to pay close attention to the temporary signage in place for their safety and that of the workers. A detailed information sheet on the work phases and diversions is available.
