The Anap, in collaboration with the think tank Matières Grises, has published a guide aimed at fostering ecological transition in EHPADs. This guide, drafted with the contribution of 73 facility directors, proposes four action levers, including evolving daily practices and promoting active resident participation.
Among the practical recommendations, the guide addresses themes such as introducing sustainable food, improved waste management, practicing responsible care with reduced single-use plastics, implementing innovative bio-cleaning, adopting virtuous digital practices, promoting sustainable mobility, and encouraging social connection and physical activity to reduce medication consumption.
Downloadable resources, including an energy autonomy assessment tool and a climate adaptation decision-support tool, are also available.
Concurrently, Anap has published a summary sheet on eco-responsible care, identified as a major decarbonization lever in the healthcare sector. This sheet offers a 12-step checklist for a successful eco-design of care approach.
The steps include establishing the foundations of eco-design, mobilizing management, raising team awareness, conducting an inventory of actions and needs, optimizing patient pathways, reducing medical device waste, prioritizing actions, revising care practices, conducting real-world tests, proceeding with deployment, evaluating impacts, and valorizing the initiative and sustaining results.
