This one-hour webinar aimed to share useful experiences for local authorities engaged in adapting their territories to coastal risks. The GIP Littoral recalled the Regional Coastal Strip Management Strategy (SRGBC) from 2012 and its local adaptations. The 2026 revision of the Guide to Local Action will integrate legislative and regulatory changes and planning issues.
The Department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques presented the dredging operation of the access channel to the Txingudi bay and the reuse of sandy sediments for the replenishment of the Grande Plage in Hendaye. This initiative, part of the Local Coastal Risk Management Strategy of the Basque Coast and co-managed with the municipality of Hendaye, aims to maintain navigation in the bay and address coastal erosion on the beach.
Lessons learned highlighted the importance of weather-marine windows for sediment transfer and the frequency of topographic and bathymetric monitoring. Future perspectives include a relevant sediment management plan and a cross-border hydro-sedimentary management project.
The Department of Charente-Maritime complemented these points by presenting various dredging and sediment reuse techniques, including 'rainbowing', illustrating technical choices based on site characteristics and operational constraints.
A Q&A session allowed participants to ask questions on technical, consultation, and governance aspects. The answers are available in the webinar presentation.
