As part of the « Tout beau tout bois » exhibition, the Landes Departmental Archives offer an immersion into the history of the department's rural habitat. The Landes built environment, although diverse in its forms – a stocky house by the pine trees, a two-story stone house on the banks of the Adour, or a courtyard farm on the slopes of the valleys – shares a temporal unity, marked by a new demographic evolution in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The exhibition is divided into three thematic parts. The first addresses humanity's search for a place to build shelter. The second highlights the house as the work of artisans and its future occupants. Finally, the third part explores life within the home, where people live « with those who share the same pot and the same fire ».
Entry to this exhibition is free during regular opening hours. A special opening is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
