Initially scheduled for October 4, the hike saw strong participation with over 200 mountain bikers and 110 walkers. The event also benefited from the involvement of 80 volunteers, including some elected officials, who contributed to its organization. Beyond the sporting aspect, this day was dedicated to emotion and remembrance.
The hike had been postponed following the death of Christophe Lasserre, a very active member of the association, who passed away a month ago. Aged 61 and recently retired, he was honored with a minute of applause before the start, in the presence of his wife Pascale and his children Julien and Manon. This moment marked the tribute paid to this man appreciated by all.
The club, which has 45 male members (women are welcome, notes president Jean-Lou Meunier), had prepared several VTT routes from 18 to 50 km, as well as two hiking routes of 8.5 and 12.5 km.
Participants explored the paths and hillsides of Montardon, Buros, Saint-Castin, Maucor, and Serres-Castet, discovering about twenty springs. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the KOALA association, which supports hospitalized children.
