The resolution was adopted during the municipal council meeting of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Many elected officials expressed their shock and incomprehension regarding the deliberate fire that affected Limoges Town Hall, with media images of the event still vivid in everyone's minds.
Frédéric Soulier, mayor of Brive-la-Gaillarde, explained that this aid was initiated after a discussion with the mayor of Limoges. He noted that the Limoges community was organizing to maintain public services despite the damage.
The Limoges Town Hall building will be classified as a Historical Monument. The State, through the Ministry of Culture, will cover 80% of the reconstruction costs. The remaining 20% will be covered by the Fondation du patrimoine, insurance, and if necessary, by the City of Limoges.
It is in this context that Brive-la-Gaillarde will provide financial aid of €15,000. This sum aims to support the rehabilitation of this 'common house', 'house of the Republic', and 'regional heritage gem'.
